Where My Business Is Headed In 2010

2009 has been a pretty successful year for me business-wise. Actually, I only went full-time with my business during the second half of 2009. Before then, I was doing this part-time and holding a full-time job.

So I guess I can always look back at 2009 and think about how I accomplished one of my dreams: I went into business for myself.

With that said, I always want to be looking forward. Here is a general summary of where my business is headed in 2010.

  • I’m going to continue to focus on creating great, meaningful, free content.
  • I’m going to transition to a new WordPress theme and update the look of the blog.
  • I plan to work on my autoresponder sequence and focus it more on affiliate marketing.
  • I’m going to put a lot of effort into continuing to build my list.
  • I plan on marketing a set of info products that I create for the VAforBloggers.com audience, over on this blog as well.

  • I plan to move away from doing hourly client work (for new clients, old clients will stay intact), and focusing more on straight packages for specific tasks.
  • I plan on creating a line of info products for those who don’t know if they want virtual assistance, but still need help doing some things.
  • I’m also going to be updating the site design quite a bit.
  • And I plan on starting a list for this blog as well. I didn’t originally because it wasn’t a focus, to capture leads. But with the info products coming out, it’s now very much a priority.
  • I will also probably expand the reach of services by creating partnerships with other contractors.
  • Since I’ll be focusing more on project work here, I’m going to be implementing a project management software (most likely Basecamp).

SpendLessOnLife.com

  • I’m going to finally launch this site. A lot of stuff has gotten in the way of this in 2009.
  • I’m going to focus on growing the membership community.
  • I’m going to focus on growing the list.
  • I’m also going to develop some info products to make available to those who don’t want to do the membership, but are still looking for premium information.
  • I plan on just really growing the community around this blog in general.

So that’s that. Obviously, I have more specific, SMART goals for each of these bullet points. But that’s the general overview.

Here’s to our success in 2010!

Ahh the list, the list. I'm going to have to stop being a slacker and work on building a few lists myself. I've been in the online game for years, and never seriously made any sort of list-building effort. Quite sad when you think about the business I've missed out on ;)

But I'll take a kick in the pants from you, and make that my top priority for 2010.

Sounds like you really have it all planed. I'm still working out the details, but I have a similar post in the works for January 1st. Good luck in 2010, I'll be stopping around.
