Where Do Intermediate/Advanced Bloggers Go to Learn More?

If you’ve been blogging for any amount of time, you’ve probably noticed that there are a plethora of places you can go to learn the basics of blogging and online business. There’s a reason for that: there are still more blogging newbies than advanced bloggers, therefore the demand for beginner information is higher.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty well-versed in the mechanics and the basics. I’m past the beginner stage, and while it’s nice to revisit the basics occasionally, I’m hungry for information on my level.

So while a lot of bloggers are still catering to the beginner crowd, where can some of us go to find more advanced information?

Forums
Instead of waiting for your favorite bloggers to write something that applies to you, why don’t you hit up some forums and ask the questions you have? You won’t be the only more advanced blogger roaming these forums: ProBlogger.com, Bloggeries, WordPress Forums, Digital Point Forums, SitePoint Forums, and Entrepreneurs-Journey.com Forums.

Stick with your favorite blogs and wait for them to slowly advance and grow up.
It’s pretty inevitable. Bloggers write about what they’re learning and experiencing at the time, and eventually they will advance and their material will grow. So don’t just abandon blogs you think you’ve “outgrown”.

Start your own, more advanced blog.
A lot of people do this (start a blog on blogging). But then they just start giving the same, basic information that every else is sharing. Take it to the next level and start your blog on a higher level, if you’re going to enter this market. That’s probably a good niche of what appears to be an over-crowded market: advanced bloggers.

Social Networking
Whenever I have a question I need answered, I take it straight to my social networking crowds. I always get an answer and the help I need. Some of the best, more advanced blogging resources I’ve stumbled upon have come through a social networking connection.

Meetups/Conferences/Events
Tap the resources themselves at in-person events. People have a lot more knowledge than they share on their blogs, frankly. So someone you may see as being a “blogger for beginners”, actually has a ton of more advanced information and experience. Connect in person. It’ll do wonders by exposing you to more advanced resources and information.

Hang out wherever those in your niche are hanging out.
If you’re finding it hard to find blogging information on your level, maybe it’s time to stop focusing on the “how-to’s” of blogging, and start hanging out with others in your niche. If you already have the good foundation and know-how, maybe you need to shift your focus from “learn how to do this business” to “learn more about my market”.

Just some thoughts. I know it seems like blogging bloggers tend to regurgitate the same information over and over, but there are ways to satisfy your craving for more advanced information.

Interesting idea Lisa. And you are absolutely right that there is a need for advanced blogging information. But I started thinking, what is advanced blogging? Is it so much different to grow your blog from 1 to 100 subscribers or daily uniques than it is to build the blog from 1000 to 100k? Or is the advanced blogging even about the numbers, or is it something else? Yes… very interesting topic indeed.

But speaking of this whole blogging about blogging and making money with blogging thing; when people experience success with blogging (with a blog about something else than blogging, business, etc.), they're likely to rush to teaching how they got that success instead of continuing what they've started. Instead of taking their current business to another level, they jump and build a new one. Maybe the ones that are truly advanced bloggers just keep on building and working on their blogs, instead of blogging about blogging?

See when I think about “advanced blogging information”, I think of taking it further and learning more about SEO and online business in general, and more technical aspects. I don't necessarily think of numbers because, you're right, growth is growth.

VERY interesting observation. Totally accurate too. But I can see why someone in that situation would create a new business showing others how to profit like they did. People want to know “the secret” to how you make money doing this and that, and if you've done it, you have the secret. And secrets sell.

    Great comment, thanks for sharing.
