BlogWorld Recap Day #1: Arrival and Dinner With Darren Rowse and Friends

by Lisa Morosky on October 15, 2009

It’s the end of Day #1 here in Las Vegas. Guess what? I’m already tired. :)

I arrived in Las Vegas around 2:45pm today. Other than being a little bit late arriving, the travel went fine. I sat next to the lovely Tracy Schmidt. She’s the Editorial Director for ChicagoNow. It sounds like they have a lot of exciting things going on over there currently.

After arriving, I made my way to my hotel – the Courtyard Marriott Las Vegas Convention Center. This hotel couldn’t be in a better location. It’s directly across the street from the convention center, and directly across the street from the monorail stop. The hotel is nice inside. No complaints so far.

At 6:00pm, I made my way to Fiamma Trattoria & Bar, located in the MGM Grand, to meet with Darren Rowse and Lara Kulpa and “others” for dinner. Lo and behold, I get there and I see that the “others” end up being these fabulous folks: Chris Brogan, Brian Clark, Patrick O’Keefe, Reem Abeidoh, Zane Aveton, and Jennifer Wilson.

Trust me when I say I was in good company. Each of these people are incredibly down-to-earth, genuine, and a blast to be around. I felt like I knew them for years, even though we had just met.

The food at dinner was outstanding. We had a multi-course meal, complete with a dessert tray built for a king. The staff at Fiamma is wonderful. Eat here if you’re ever in Las Vegas.

That was my day in a nutshell! I’m looking forward to a keynote session tomorrow, followed by a few meetups and parties.

So jealous of your dinner with that great group of folks. What an awesome way to start off your trip!
  • HEy Lisa!

Was so great to meet you (and all the other twitter superstars) in Vegas :) I just spent 45 minutes reading through your sites and am so impressed by all you have accomplished (was going to say *at your age* but really at any age!) Hopefully I will get to avail myself of your services sometime - meanwhile it was fun to just hang out!

    jen :)
  • @Jen It was nice meeting you too! Thanks for the compliment. :) Keep in touch, and hopefully we'll be in the same place at the same time again soon!
